Why can't we be like computers?

I have heard many people state that we can't be like computers. Why not? We have are programming (genes). All our decisions are based on our inputs such as what is happening we then relate this to our past experiences and our genes. These directly effect our decisions.

Many people here are alot like computers. They don't have the ability to think for themselves and they copy/paste everything.

computers cannot (yet) think for themselves
we can be like computers ,

Just tear your FEELINGS out of your self.

Dave's not here man!
We are like computors, but we all have a biult in virus, called free will..!!
except a computer doesn't drive over a owner with a car because he was with another computer.

That will always be the difference.
I think we are more like computers than some would like to admit. I was talking with a friend who's a computer scientist the other night and he was telling me how the new genetic testing and therapies that are being developed are very much like computer science. Each gene is like an on/off toggle switch, which is the basic operating unit behind all computers. We just haven't learned how to control the human switches yet.
Personally, I think we are just very complex computers. I believe this as a result of the Church-Turing thesis, which essentially says that any computational process (which includes human thought) can be mimicked by a mechanical process.
