lifers no they should not have television, newspapers or computers PERIOD, the rest limited television privilages and newspaper if they can read but no magazines they are there for punishment PERIOD

If that's what you want, fine, BUT, then I challenge you to go work in that environment where you have limited management tools, where inmates have little to do with their time but to figure out ways to hurt you and the rest of their lives to do it with.

If you believe prisons should operate only as human warehouses that punish people, then no. However, since punishment does not stop crime nearly as well as reforming people does, then educational materials including computers should be available.



I don't believe prisoners should have access to chat/blogs/email etc as they generally serve no educational purpose.
Not only that.. they should have a bed, a toilet, and no other items, contact of any kind with anyone (except their lawyer), and never be let out of the cell (except maybe a once a week supervised shower), until they're dead and in the ground.
No, and they should go back to a single common room TV with limited amount of time to watch. I have no problems with newspapers or magazines as long as the inmate is paying for the subscription.
