So me being the cheapo that i am, decided to buy the usb male a to a cable and not that belkins easy transfer cable. after opening windows easy transfer on both computers many times (they both run vista) they still fail to recognize each other through the cable. my question is... is there any way for this to even work? or do i have to go and buy that belkins transfer cable. i also tried sending over the network, but its really slow ( i have about 40 gigs of stuff to send) if the belkins is too expensive, i may consider buying the crossover cable, but im just wondering if theres any way to do it with the usb cable i have right now. thanks!
Is it possible to connect two computers with a NONspecial male A to A usb cable?microsoft
In the future, I would suggest to NOT USE A TO A USB CABLES between two computers as you can seriously screw up both of them. If you want to use USB, use a bridged cable like the Belkins one or a network cable if you're willing to wait a while.

Don't waste your time or money on a USB-USB connection. Use a ethernet network cross-over cable or a better solution is through your router (spend $25 and get a hub or router c/w firewall). Once plugged in select Start -%26gt; Run -%26gt; \\%26lt;otherComputerName%26gt; this will display all shared folders in the other computer,
Yes, simply crossover the wires on one end ,to the other. That's why they're CROSSOVER cables. Right now you have IN going to IN, and OUT to OUT! You need out on one computer going to in on the other, and vice versa. Look on the web for USB A pinout chart.
