Can't get one of my computers on the internet?

I recently got 3 computers that were used in an office as a gift...and I can't get them on the internet. A simple plug-in of the ethernet cable and hitting the IE icon dosen't do it. My friend mentioned something about 'configuring dhcp' Usually when this happends I am able to download an internet driver for the PC (its an HP) But I can't find one on their support page.

Heres the page http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...

Any help?

Let's assume you are connecting through a router (broadband of some sort).

The router should be providing the IP addressing information to your computer. Do this:

Click Start

Click Run

Enter in: cmd

Press Enter

A black window should appear

Type in: ipconfig /all

Press enter

Do this on each connected PC. In the information provided, the DNS Server and Default Gateway should match on all PC's. If it doesn't add more information to your question.

Look in device manager - have you got any errors/yellow exclamation marks? If you have one on your ethernet controller you need to download the driver for your nic from the manufacturer.
