Why are ladies afraid of continue major in computers?

I have known girls that start by majoring in computers? but at the end, they just quit? why do they do that? Also some of them say that they are not going to be selected by the employers being that nowadays in the computer field there are a lot of guys and few females.

In employers point of view i think they prefer men because they know the chance of ladies working after marriage is less and more over they dont work over time and also transfers are not preferred by them since the usually stay with family. Stereotypes, a lot of women are becoming mathematicians and working with computers better than med are. [not counting geek squad, they will hire people who don't even know what a CPU is]
I've noticed that at circuit city and places where they have computer repair, you see all men working back there. I guess the same is true of auto mechanics. I work in a electronic repair shop, mostly it's men but all the laptops are repaired by a woman.

Anyway I could understand you being afraid if this were the 1970's. I remember that's when women starting moving into tech jobs in the phone co. the men gave them a really hard time. But today there's lots of women working in telecommunications.
Because It's a man's world. Most women don't want to work in a field that is male dominated. Even though in college women received better grades then men they usually do not continue in their field because they believe that they will not be able to succeed. Which is sad...
It's strange that they say they have less of a chance of being selected for jobs because as far as I know, the industry is crying for women to be more involved with careers in computers. I think the main reason for women doing that is because the industry is so dominated by males they can get to a point where they are just intimidated by the thought. A lot of men in the computer field tend to not take women seriously and don't like having women tell them what to do. It's a shame and I hope that this will change over time.
